CLA Scanning: An Insight Into Your Nervous System
CLA Insight scanning is a state-of-the-art technology used in our free spinal screenings. It consists of an HRV scan, neurothermal, and a surface EMG (electromyography) scan, these neurological tests examine how well your nervous system is functioning.
What Does a CLA Scan Involve?
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
A HRV scan calculates your ability to adapt and measures how well your body responds to stress. This allows your chiropractor to link external factors, such as environmental stresses or lifestyle changes, to your health.
Neurothermal Scan
This scan detects temperature variations along your spine and helps your chiropractor to identify any nerve disturbances. This provides insight into your nervous system, as your autonomic nervous system heavily regulates your skin temperature.
Neurocore Scan
Neurocore, also known as a Surface EMG measures the muscle activity on both sides of the spine, tense muscles, injuries, or differences between both sides of the muscle will be picked up. This evaluates neuromuscular activity related to your posture or spinal activity.
What to Expect During a CLA Scan
Your chiropractor will begin with an HRV test, which involves you placing your fingers in the machine while seated for three minutes.
Your heart rate must remain steady during an HRV test, the aim is to have a consistent environment. It is important to remove any variabilities that may influence your nervous system and your test. Your chiropractor will leave the room and ask you to keep still while your heart rate variability is measured. So try to stay still and relax!
When having a neurothermal and neurocore scan, your chiropractor will need access to your spine, so you will be asked to remove your top and put on the gown provided. These scans will start from the bottom of your spine going to the top.
A CLA scan is a relatively quick process, considering the amount of insight into your nervous system that it offers. Both spinal scans (neurothemal and neurocore) take thirty seconds to one minute. Allowing time for your chiropractor to explain your results, and answer any of your questions, your appointment should take 15 to 20 minutes.
Your Corescore and What it Shows Us
A COREscore is a report generated using scores from your neurothermal, Surface EMG, and HRV. CLA created COREscore with patients in mind, aiming to make communication easier between you and your chiropractor, with a clear visual report.
This report gives a well-rounded view of your spinal health and how your nervous system functions.
